RESPECTING OUR PAST, SERVING IN THE PRESENT, GROWING FOR OUR FUTURE
A WORD FROM FR. CYRIAC
Dear St. Oliver’s Parishioners,
This year St. Oliver Plunkett Parish marks 45 years since its foundation. What began as a small group of faithful Catholics gathering at South Gwinnett High School now has grown into a flourishing community of over 1100 active families. We have so much to be grateful for reflecting on the past, serving our present, and growing our future.
We are indeed joyful witnesses who continue to gather religiously to worship, to serve the needs of our community as well as prepare for a future that is hope filled. I have often witnessed the generosity and willingness of our parishioners to address the various needs of the parish. Your generosity is reflected in the support you render for faith formation of youth, for helping out the needy among us, and for the various capital improvements to our facilities.
While we serve the needs of our present realities, we need to grow deeper and continue to flourish as a community. We have accomplished amazing things over the years. Nourished by the sacraments, we, as disciples of the Lord, must deepen our faith through evangelization, adult faith formation, and service to our brothers and sisters. We have a vibrant community with an active youth program along with numerous young families who need to be attended to.
With this in mind, I write you to respond to St. Oliver’s new stewardship program: “Respecting Our Past, Serving Our Present, Growing Our Future”. Please review the contents of this brochure, know how much is being accomplished, and prayerfully consider how you and your family can play an active role in continuing the work of Jesus Christ through our parish community. Our goal is to increase our Sunday offertory contributions in order to draw as many people as possible closer to Christ. This will allow us to serve the growing needs of our parish, offer programs that will empower our youth, and support the needy among us.
On October 21st and 22nd, the parish will be holding a special commitment weekend, inviting members of our community to connect with one another and to make a financial commitment that will allow St. Oliver’s to continue its important work. I am counting on YOU! Please participate in our program: “Respecting Our Past, Serving Our Present, Growing Our Future”. If every household will generously support this program, we can flourish as a Eucharistic centered community of joyful witnesses who will faithfully give, love, and serve.

Queridos feligreses de San Oliver,
Este año la Parroquia San Oliver Plunkett cumple 45 años desde su fundación. Lo que comenzó como un pequeño grupo de fieles católicos que se reunían en South Gwinnett High School ahora se ha convertido en una floreciente comunidad de más de 1100 familias activas. Tenemos mucho que agradecer por reflexionar sobre el pasado, servir a nuestro presente y hacer crecer nuestro futuro.
Somos testigos gozosos que continuamos reuniéndonos religiosamente para adorar, para servir las necesidades de nuestra comunidad así como para prepararnos para un futuro lleno de esperanza. A menudo he sido testigo de la generosidad y disposición de nuestros feligreses para atender las diversas necesidades de la parroquia. Esa generosidad se refleja en el apoyo que prestan a la formación en la fe de los jóvenes, a la ayuda a los necesitados y a las diversas mejoras de nuestras instalaciones.
Mientras atendemos a las necesidades de nuestras realidades actuales, necesitamos crecer más profundamente y continuar floreciendo como comunidad. Hemos logrado cosas asombrosas a lo largo de los años. Alimentados por los sacramentos, nosotros, como discípulos del Señor, debemos profundizar en nuestra fe a través de la evangelización, la formación en la fe de los adultos y el servicio a nuestros hermanos y hermanas. Tenemos una comunidad vibrante con un programa activo juvenil junto con numerosas familias jóvenes que necesitan ser atendidas.
Con esto en mente, les escribo para responder al nuevo programa de corresponsabilidad de San Oliver: "Respetando Nuestro Pasado, Sirviendo Nuestro Presente, Haciendo Crecer Nuestro Futuro". Por favor revisen el contenido de este folleto, sepan cuanto se esta logrando, y en oracion consideren como ustedes y sus familias pueden jugar un papel activo en la continuacion de la obra de Jesucristo a través de nuestra comunidad parroquial. Nuestra meta es incrementar nuestras contribuciones al ofertorio dominical para acercar a la mayor cantidad de gente posible a Cristo. Esto nos permitirá atender las crecientes necesidades de nuestra parroquia, ofrecer programas que capaciten a nuestros jóvenes y apoyar a los necesitados entre nosotros.
El 21 y 22 de octubre, la parroquia celebrará un fin de semana especial de compromiso, invitando a los miembros de nuestra comunidad a conectarse entre sí y a hacer un compromiso financiero que permitirá a la Parroquia San Oliver continuar su importante labor. ¡Cuento con USTEDES! Por favor, participen de nuestro programa: "Respetando Nuestro Pasado, Sirviendo Nuestro Presente, Haciendo Crecer Nuestro Futuro". Si cada hogar apoya generosamente a este programa, podemos florecer como una comunidad centrada en la Eucaristía de testigos alegres que fielmente aportarán, amarán y servirán.
